TabBoard is a Chrome extension designed to help users manage and organize their browser tab sessions. This privacy policy explains how TabBoard handles your data.
Data Collection and Use
Local Data Storage
- Tab Information: TabBoard stores tab titles, URLs, and favicon URLs locally on your device
- Project Data: Your saved projects, board names, and session data are stored locally using Chrome's storage API
- User Preferences: Settings like theme preferences and notification states are stored locally
What We DON'T Collect
- No personal information is transmitted to external servers
- No browsing history is tracked beyond what you explicitly save
- No analytics or tracking data is collected
- No user accounts or registration required
Permissions Explained
Required Permissions
- tabs: Required to read current tab information when creating projects and to open tabs when restoring projects
- storage: Required to save your projects and preferences locally on your device
- commands: Required for keyboard shortcuts (Alt+Shift+Z) to open the extension
- <all_urls>: Required to access favicon URLs from websites for visual project representation
Data Security
All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage system. TabBoard does not transmit any data to external servers or third parties.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your data is retained locally until you:
- Manually delete projects through the extension interface
- Uninstall the extension (which removes all local data)
- Clear your browser's extension data
Import/Export Functionality
TabBoard provides import/export features that allow you to:
- Export your data as JSON files for backup purposes
- Import previously exported data
- These files remain under your complete control and are not transmitted anywhere
Third-Party Services
TabBoard may access favicon services (like Google's favicon service) to display website icons. This is limited to publicly available favicon URLs and does not include personal browsing data.
Children's Privacy
TabBoard does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The extension is suitable for all ages.
